My mother was named Evelyn Esther Rosenberg. She was born in Rockford Township near New Rockford, ND on November 14, 1917 to Oliver and Esther (Anderson) Rosenberg. She was the first daughter of ten children. She had four older brothers, three younger sisters, and two younger brothers.
The family's name should have been Johnson, but owing to the Post Office's inability to deliver mail correctly in Newman Grove, Nebraska to her grandfather, John Johnson, he changed his last name to Rosenberg, as it remains to this day. Family legend is that "Rosenberg" is a place name in Skane, Sweden. If so, I've not been able to find it.
